The Circle B Motor Lodge was established in 1953 on the outskirts of Benkelman, Nebraska. Four couples have owned the motel since it opened its doors. The first owners, who built the facility, were Ray and Juanita Bravard. Next, Richard and Elsie Anderson took ownership from 1961 to 1984. Vern & Sherry Beckman purchased the motel from the Andersons and ran the business until 1998. The current owners, Shane & Nickole Sis, are in their tenth year of owning and operating the motor lodge. The motel has 17 rooms -- 10 on the ground floor and 7 upstairs. Of those 17, nine are rooms with one bed (singles), seven are rooms with two beds (doubles), and 1 room has three beds (triple). Our rooms are clean and comfortable, with air conditioning, a great cable TV selection, in-room direct dial phones, and wireless internet access for a minimal charge. The Circle B has a very loyal clientele, ranging from traveling salespeople to hunters to graduates of Dundy County Schools who return to Benkelman yearly for Alumni festivities. The motel also stays very busy with wedding parties, family reunions, and the occasional travelers -- as well as construction, railroad, and telecommunications crews. The Beckman family did a wonderful job of keeping the motel in good repair and upgrading the telephone and cable tv systems. Since taking ownership, we have taken on such projects as: recarpeting, new beds, new air conditioners, new televisions, etc. BWTelcom, the local telecommunications company, has added (just this year) wireless internet access, which is available to our customers for $5.95 per 24 hour period. We also took on the huge project of putting new cement siding on the upper floor of the exterior of the building, under the direction of Hudson Construction. It was a huge undertaking, but very necessary. The original cedar wood siding (brought down from Canada when the motel was originally built) had seen better days and it was time. It was a long project, but very much needed.
